05 Oct Rock Star Awards – What our finalists have to say!
On August 4th 2017, two Streetwise HR board members joined two from Rock Recruitment to put the seven Company Star Award nominees through a series of rigorous questions.
Their aim: to find a company that stands head and shoulders above the rest in their dedication to recruiting, nurturing and supporting young employees.
“We hear a lot of noise about engaging millennials, so we we’re looking for robust evidence that the nominees were creatively recruiting and retaining the future talent for business growth,” says Laura McHarrie, non-exec director for Streetwise HR.
After a full day of deliberations and jellybeans, the shortlist was narrowed down to four: two companies with more than 50 employees and two companies with fewer. We thought we’d reach out to our finalists and see how they feel about getting through to the last leg…

We were absolutely over the moon to be nominated for the Company Star category – finally we can celebrate the hard work, passion and dedication of all our staff committed to nurturing our young talent. It’s because of these individuals that we’ve made it through to the final.
A-One Insurance – Lia Martin and Sarah Eades
We’re delighted to be announced as finalists in the Company Star award this year. We’ve worked really hard to improve the way we recruit and work with young people, and it’s fantastic for this to be recognised. Young people are such a valuable asset to our business!
Companies with under 50 employees…
Inspire Professional Services – Chris Downing and Bev Cattano
It’s a great privilege to be picked as finalists in the Company Star category. We pride ourselves on offering one of the best training packages for our trainees, as well as a unique in-house Business Academy, which we’ve developed exclusively for our team members.
Liz Lean PR – Liz Willingham
We don’t nurture young people to look good; we genuinely enjoy it and invest our time in giving people opportunities that will boost their career and nurture their strengths. For this to be acknowledged is extremely gratifying, and we can’t wait to be part of the celebrations.
We’re incredibly excited about the awards ceremony, which will be held at Bournemouth’s O2 Academy on October 19th. Our finalists are all worthy winners, so we can’t wait to see who comes out on top.
