Our partnership with Anniversary House
“The best thing about Katie and Kim, the advisors from Streetwise HR is their straight-talking approach; we trust them to simply ‘tell it how it is’, and we know that no matter what decision needs to be made they will be there to support and advise. In business, this honest, candid way of working is a breath of fresh air, and it definitely gets things done quicker and better!”
Mike Forder, CEO
ABOUT ANNIVERSARY HOUSE
Based in sunny Bournemouth, Creative Party is a family-run business and is also one of the UK’s leading manufacturers and distributors of all things party, not to mention a leading player in party ware and cake decorations, including onsite manufacturing of handmade sugar craft.
Founded back in 1953, it now distributes nationally and internationally to the retail, wholesale and B2B trades and it seems the growth is set to continue. Creative Party brought on board their current CEO, Mike Forder in 2007 and since then there’s been a huge focus on development, with the introduction of new products, new staff and new systems and processes.
THE PROBLEM
Their HR needs have fluctuated constantly, depending on their growth spurts, which is why they avoided the one-size-fits-all offering of other HR companies. In 2010, they struck gold when they found Streetwise HR. Getting the HR foundations right is so important for a business with growth aspirations and the Streetwise HR team gets a kick out of meeting all Compliance City needs… no matter how sporadic they are!
THE SOLUTION
It starts with developing watertight contracts, updating bespoke staff handbooks, creating effective job descriptions and appropriate person specifications. These foundation stones support all elements of HR processes and procedures which is why the Streetwise HR team takes the time to get it right.
They keep on top of all those changes to employment law that can make being an employer, a nightmare. Recent things like the data protection regulations that came in in 2018, the introduction of shared parental leave, the abolition of the default retirement age, flexible working regulations are just a few to mention.
